Following Instructions to Make a Roman Road

Posted by on April 25, 2018

Today we have carried on with our instructional work in English. We thought about  the most important features of instructions and how they were structured. We then looked at a good example and a set of instructions that needed improving. As a class we discussed how they could be improved. Finally we followed a set of  instructions to make a Roman road with 4 layers. We used biscuits, custard and chocolate to create our roads.

We made  links with our current History topic ‘The Romans’. We have also learned that there was a Roman road at Castleshaw not too far from our school which led to a Roman Fort.
