Year 5 have had two sessions with Dan from Positive Steps recently. The children were learning more about ‘Rights and Responsibilities’ and about ‘Harmful Substances’. They thought carefully about the activities they were giving and were eager to share their ideas and opinions.
In Science, Year 5 have been learning all about plants and flowers. They worked carefully to take apart a flower and identify the different parts.
Well done Years 5 and 6! After their fabulous performance at last week’s Oldham Music Festival, the children were thrilled to find out they had won ‘Most Memorable Performance by a Primary School.’ We are all very proud of how hard the children have worked to achieve this award.
Year 2 have been learning about Habitats this half term. Today we took advantage of the sunshine to explore the micro-habitats found in our school grounds. We found lots of creatures and plants living in different types of places.
As part of our Roman Topic the children have designed and sewn their own Roman Bullas. They are amulets, worn around the neck as a locket to protect against evil spirits and forces. Inside these the children have written their own wishes.

As part of our topic, Year 1 had the opportunity to visit Skipton Castle. They explored the castle grounds, learnt new information and even experienced what it was like in the dungeon!! Year 1 had a fantastic day. Here are some of the pictures.
Ready, steady, go! Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils had a great afternoon taking part in Sports Day activities. Sprint races, egg and spoon, bean bag on head, skipping, bean bag in the hoop and relays. everyone trying their best and supporting each other. Even the grown ups had a go!
Yesterday was our Summer Fair and, despite the weather keeping most of the stalls and activities inside, we all had a fabulous day. We had the judging and prize giving of our art contest. Update 6th July 2018: We’ve reached Barcelona!! We have walked 1,142 miles to reach our destination. Well done to everyone!! Today we went on our class trip to Dewa Roman Museum in Chester where we met our guide Jenny. We learned how the Romans lived and what life was like in Roman Britannia. We ended our visit with a battle at the ampitheatre but not before we experienced being archaeologists!!
